HEIC to JPG Converter

Turn iPhone HEIC photos into JPG files that open everywhere. The conversion happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

Your files never leave your device. How privacy works

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose your HEIC files, or drag them onto the box above. You can add as many as you like.
  2. Each one is converted to JPG on your own device. This usually takes a second or two per file.
  3. Download the JPG files one at a time, or all together as a ZIP file.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have used for photos since 2017. It keeps the same picture quality as JPG in about half the space, which is why Apple chose it.

The trouble starts when a photo leaves your phone. Many websites, upload forms, older programs and Windows PCs cannot open HEIC files. JPG opens everywhere.

Will the JPG look the same?

Yes, to the eye. The converter saves at high quality (92 out of 100) unless you move the Quality slider. The JPG keeps the full size in pixels and the right way up.

The JPG will usually be a bigger file than the HEIC, because JPG is an older and less efficient format. If you need it smaller, lower the quality or use the Image Compressor afterwards.

What happens to location and camera details?

iPhone photos carry hidden details such as where and when the photo was taken. The JPG files made here do not include them. That is useful when you are sending a photo to someone you do not know, or posting it online.

Questions and answers

Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you use it for.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The work is done by your own browser, on your own device. You can check: convert one photo, switch off your internet connection, then convert another. It still works, because nothing is being sent anywhere.
Why will my HEIC file not open on Windows?
Windows needs extra add-ons from the Microsoft Store to read HEIC, and they are not always installed. Converting the photo to JPG avoids the problem.
Can I do many files at once?
Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download them all together as a ZIP file.
How do I make my iPhone take JPG photos instead?
Open Settings, tap Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. They take more space on the phone.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in any current browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing needs to be installed.
