How to convert PNG to JPG

Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which makes photos saved as PNG very large. Screenshots and photos exported as PNG are often several megabytes: too big for many upload forms, and slow to email.
As a JPG, the same photo is usually a fraction of the size and looks the same to the eye. Every program, website and form accepts JPG.
What happens to see-through areas?
JPG cannot store transparency. See-through areas are filled with white, or with the colour you pick under Background.
If the transparency matters, as it often does for logos, keep the file as a PNG. The Image Compressor can still make a PNG smaller, and it keeps the see-through areas.
Will the picture lose quality?
Slightly, in a way you are unlikely to see in a photo. The default quality of 92 keeps the change small. For screenshots with small writing, move the Quality slider to 95 or above, or keep the PNG.

- Is it free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many images you use it for.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. The work is done by your own browser, on your own device. You can check: convert one image, switch off your internet connection, then convert another. It still works, because nothing is being sent anywhere.
- How much smaller will the JPG be?
- It depends on the picture. A photo saved as PNG often shrinks to a fifth of its size or less. A screenshot or drawing with large plain areas shrinks less, and may look better kept as PNG.
- Can I do many files at once?
- Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download them all together as a ZIP file.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. It works in any current browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing needs to be installed.
