How to convert HEIC to PNG

PNG or JPG: which should I pick?
PNG stores every pixel exactly as it is. Choose it when you are going to edit the picture again, or when a website specifically asks for PNG.
The price is size. A PNG of a phone photo is often five times bigger than a JPG that looks the same. If you only want a photo that opens everywhere, HEIC to JPG is usually the better choice.
Why convert HEIC at all?
HEIC is the photo format of iPhones and iPads. It saves space on the phone, but many programs, websites and Windows PCs cannot read it. PNG has been readable by practically everything for decades.
What is kept and what is removed
The PNG has the same width and height as the original and is the right way up. Hidden details such as the place and time the photo was taken are not copied into the PNG.

- Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you use it for.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. The work is done by your own browser, on your own device. You can check: convert one photo, switch off your internet connection, then convert another. It still works, because nothing is being sent anywhere.
- Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?
- PNG does not throw away any detail to save space, and photos have a great deal of detail. For a smaller file, convert to JPG instead.
- Can I do many files at once?
- Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download them all together as a ZIP file.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. It works in any current browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing needs to be installed.
