How to convert WebP to JPG

What is a WebP file?
WebP is an image format made by Google for websites. It makes pictures smaller so pages load faster, and every current browser can show it. That is why a picture you save from a website often arrives as a .webp file.
Outside the browser, support is patchy. Older photo editors, some office programs and many upload forms reject WebP. JPG is accepted everywhere.
What about see-through backgrounds?
JPG cannot store transparency. If your WebP has a see-through background, it is filled with white in the JPG, or with another colour if you change the Background setting.
To keep the background see-through, use WebP to PNG instead.
Will the picture lose quality?
Very slightly, in a way you are unlikely to see. JPG and most WebP files both save space by simplifying fine detail, and converting does that once more. The default quality of 92 keeps the effect small.

- Is it free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many images you use it for.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. The work is done by your own browser, on your own device. You can check: convert one image, switch off your internet connection, then convert another. It still works, because nothing is being sent anywhere.
- My WebP is animated. What happens?
- The JPG shows the first frame only. JPG cannot hold animation.
- Can I do many files at once?
- Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like. They are converted one after another, and you can download them all together as a ZIP file.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. It works in any current browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing needs to be installed.
