Image Resizer

Change the width and height of a picture in pixels or by percent. The resizing happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Your files never leave your device. How privacy works

How to resize an image

  1. Type the width and height you want in pixels, or switch to Percent to scale the picture up or down.
  2. Choose your images, or drag them onto the box above. Each one is resized on your own device.
  3. Check the new size shown next to each file, then download.

Keeping the picture in proportion

With Keep proportions ticked, the picture is fitted inside the width and height you give without being stretched. A 4000 by 3000 photo set to 800 by 800 comes out at 800 by 600.

Untick it when a form demands an exact width and height, such as 600 by 600. The picture is then stretched or squeezed to exactly that size, so start with a picture of a similar shape.

Pixels and file size are different things

Resizing changes how many pixels the picture has. Fewer pixels also means a smaller file, but not a predictable one.

If you need the file under a set limit such as 100 KB, resize here first, then use Compress Image to KB.

Making a picture bigger

You can enlarge a picture, but no new detail appears: the existing pixels are spread over a larger area, so it looks softer. Enlarging up to about twice the size usually still looks acceptable.

Questions and answers

Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many images you use it for.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The work is done by your own browser, on your own device. You can check: resize one image, switch off your internet connection, then resize another. It still works, because nothing is being sent anywhere.
What format is the resized picture?
The same as the original for JPG, PNG and WebP. iPhone HEIC photos are saved as JPG so they open everywhere.
Can I resize several pictures to the same size?
Yes. Add them all and each one is resized with the same settings. Download them together as a ZIP file.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in any current browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing needs to be installed.
